08 July 2007 – Manchester International Festival - Orbit Orchestral Suite

Bridgewater Hall - BBC Philharmonic – Alexander Shelley

World premier of William Orbit's Orchestral Suite as part of the Manchester International Festival.

William Orbit has a justifiable reputation in the world of popular music and this provided his first expedition into the use of a full-scale symphony orchestra - and we mean full scale. The stage was full with the biggest orchestra we've yet seen - the two grand pianos giving an indication of the overall scale of the orchestra.

We provided a ladies chorus who were presented with the broadest pitch range possible (and possibly, impossible). Yet another exciting musical experience which was enjoyed by both the performers and (the male members of the choir in) the audience.

Orchestral Suite will also be broadcast on Radio 3 and released as a CD.
