We came to sing…

Manchester Chamber Choir was started some years ago by a group of singers to allow its members to enjoy and experience making music to a high standard under the direction of a range of different conductors. Since its formation, the choir has continued to be guided and managed by members of the choir, who have remained dedicated to the original values with which Manchester Chamber Choir was formed. We are above all driven by a love of singing and making good music, and our desire to share that with the world through our performances..

The fact that our overall strategic direction is provided by the singers themselves - we make our own decisions about what projects to pursue, what repertoire to perform next - makes Manchester Chamber Choir relatively unusual. We do not have a single resident Musical Director, but rather have enjoyed the breadth of repertoire, musical styles, interpretation and inspiration provided by all the conductors we have worked with

Far from being fickle in our affections, however, the choir has enjoyed forging strong ongoing relationships with our guest conductors. These connections lead to further performances and exciting new projects for the choir.

Our established identity as an independent choir whose primary raison d'etre is to fulfil its members' musical desires has meant that Manchester Chamber Choir has attracted many talented, committed and dedicated singers whose love of music shines through above all in our performances. We look forward to sharing this with you in our upcoming concerts.
