Manchester Chamber Chior

Welcome to Manchester Chamber Choir

We are now just one month away from our first concert at Manchester's award winning Whitworth Art Gallery. The programme of music for a summer afternoon will include works by Debussy, Finzi, Mendelssohn and Elgar. In addition there will be the premiere of newly commissioned works, “postcard pieces” by final year students at Manchester University, inspired by art work in the Whitworth’s collections. This concert is already attracting a great deal of interest following our highly acclaimed performance of music by Arvo Pärt as part of the 2015 Manchester International Festival.  We thought that you would be interested to see the artworks that have inspired the students to compose their pieces.

BBC Radio 3 Mark Simpson, “The Immortal”:  “the hair-raising frenzy with which he (Juanjo Mena) and the excellent Manchester Chamber Choir attacked the Dies Irae felt like evidence of possession of a different kind”.

(Alfred Hickling, The Guardian)

BBC Live in Concert:  Last night’s concert with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra was a wonderful experience for us. The orchestra played with such luxurious power and conviction … and the Manchester Chamber Choir brought ethereal beauty to, for instance, “Miracles” and “He Dreamed Of Machines”.

(The Pet Shop Boys).

Buxton Festival:This choir is excellent. We were simply captivated by the skills of these twenty or so exceptional musicians

(Performance of Bach motets and other sacred pieces).
